Customer Reviews HURTS MY EYES
I regret buying an ACEr monitor as it bothers my eyes. I don't know if it is the size of the monitor or the brand but unfortunately, i can't take it back as we've owned it too long so we'll put it on a computer we seldom use.
I have a Samsung and Princeton monitor which do not bother my eyes. Next time we'll stick with those brands.
Great Device at great price I bought this for my girlfriend maybe six months ago and she is in love with it. You get a great value for the price and the device is solid performance wise.
Excellent value I have been using this monitor for about two months now, and I'm impressed. I have fairly high standards when it comes to displays, so I was hesitant to purchase a monitor that may cut corners to trim the price by a few dollars. After all, many of us spend hours each day staring at a monitor, so it better be decent; and, for its cost, this display is excellent: colors are crisp, contrast is great, standard resolution is nice (1680 x 1050), and we're given both both digital and analog inputs. I've experienced no blurring and no defects of any kind.
The monitor also provides you with complete control over color temperature, contrast, and brightness, and a handy little auto-adjust/quick-switch feature that lets you swap settings on the fly (if, for example, you go from reading a book online to playing a video game). There are no fancy controls here, but I haven't needed any.
I only have three complaints, and none of these are deal-breakers:
(1) The monitor is very slow to wake up. In both Windows and Ubuntu, when you move the mouse or press a key to wake it up, you'll have to wait about 5 seconds before it turns itself on. That may not sound like a long time, but if you're used to your monitor waking up immediately, it can be really annoying. I wouldn't even mention this, except that this is the first monitor I have ever owned that does this. It's strange.
(2) The backlight bleeds through around the edges when the screen is black. This is mostly an aesthetic flaw, and I don't believe it affects the quality of the picture, but seeing a strange halo around your screen definitely makes it look cheap. But you won't notice this when the display is lit up, so don't worry about it unless you're a perfectionist.
(3) The housing is cheap and unstable. Of course, this is a value monitor so we can't expect Apple's aluminum housing here, but this monitor wiggles like Galloping Gertie if you bump it. And it doesn't give you much flexibility when positioning it. While adjusting it, I worry that I'll break it.
Overall, this is a great monitor, and you're hard-pressed to find more bang for your buck in the 22" widescreen category. This is a great find!
Great value with some limitations I purchased this as replacement for my 20" boat anchor CRT at work. The color is great. No dead pixels. The price was very reasonable compared to other, similar models. If it was more adjustable I would give it 5 stars. You can only tilt it vertically.
The only problem I had, and I totally own this since I should have checked, is that my Asus motherboard does not support the best aspect ratio for this monitor. It is a two year old board and is not very high end. I plan to pick up an inexpensive graphics card to solve the problem and keep the monitor.
Kush This monitor was purchased as an upgrade for my 17" CRT and I'm totally happy with my decision. For the price it has good features and I was able to fix it to my fairly old system with minimum hassle.
However I was not able to get the optimum resolution of 1680x1050 on DVI with my Matrox G550 VGA with 32 MB but it works fine on VGA at the same resolution.
It came without any dead pixels has excellent colour balance, I would recommend this to anyone who is interested in a 22" at a budget price.

Manufacturer: Apple Computer
Product Description:Marketing description is not available. Amazon.com Product Description:Stylishly and intelligently designed for your on-the-go digital lifestyle, Apple's MacBook is the perfect confluence of affordability, innovation, and powerful computing. This latest iteration of the MacBook line (model MB403LL/A) gets a boost of speed from Intel's latest 45-nanometer Penryn series processors, which also helps to reduce power requirements and save on battery life. You'll enjoy quick and nimble multitasking thanks to the 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo processor, and this MacBook also features a 160 GB hard drive and 2 GB of installed RAM (which can be upgraded to 4 GB). The 13.3-inch glossy widescreen display provides the perfect combination of pixels and portability, and the integrated 802.11n Wi-Fi LAN enables computing freedom from wires and compatibility with older 802.11b/g routers as well as the faster throughput of Apple's Airport Extreme.
Measuring 1.08 inches thin and weighing only 5.0 pounds, the MacBook cuts a slim profile on any desk (or in any backpack or briefcase). | Measuring a mere 1.08 inches thin and weighing in at only 5.0 pounds, the MacBook cuts a slim profile on any desk (or in any backpack or briefcase). A durable polycarbonate shell in white keeps it ready for the rough and tumble of everyday life. It also offers a unique keyboard design that sits flush against the bed for a sleeker, lower profile. Other standard Apple "extras" includes a built-in iSight video camera and Apple's magnetically connected MagSafe power adapter, which safely disconnects when under strain. It's pre-loaded with Apple's Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard operating system, which enables easy backup of your most important data via Time Machine, a redesigned desktop that helps eliminate clutter. It also comes with the iLife '08 suite of applications--including iPhoto, iMovie, Garageband, and iTunes--and the newest version of the fast-loading Safari web browser. Other hardware features include an 8x combo Superdrive (for burning dual-layer DVDs as well as CDs), built-in Gigabit Ethernet for high-speed networking, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR (Enhanced Data Rate), a FireWire 400 port, DVI video output, and Intel GMA X3100 graphics processor with 144 MB of shared memory. Apple Innovations
The magnetically connected MagSafe power adapter breaks cleanly away, without damage to either the cord or the MacBook, if you trip over the cord. |
With two-finger scrolling, the trackpad becomes a fast track to wherever you want to go. | One of Apple's most celebrated innovations is the MagSafe power adapter connector with offers a magnetic connection instead of a physical one. So, if you happen to trip over a power cord, you won't send MacBook flying off a table or desk--the cord simply disconnects, without damage to either the cord or the system. As an added nicety, this means less wear on the connectors. Cleverly integrated above your MacBook display is an iSight camera, providing easy video chat capability when using iChat. You can also snap photos in Photo Booth to send via e-mail, as well as record videos and then edit them in iMovie before uploading them to web sites. The trackpad can tell if you've got one finger on the pedal, or two. With two, you can easily scroll around your documents or open contextual menus. When you need right-click functionality, simply open "Keyboard and Mouse" in System Preferences and enable the secondary click preference. Opening and closing your MacBook is also a pleasure, thanks to a magnetic latch that catches without a catch. And because it's a magnet, there are no moving parts to snag, jam, or break. Intel Core 2 Duo Processor Experience improved energy efficiency, expanded wireless connectivity, and amazing battery life with the 45nm Penryn series Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 processor, which has a 2.40 GHz processor speed, super-fast 800 MHz front-side bus (FSB), and a large 3 MB L2 cache. (An L2, or secondary, cache temporarily stores data; and a larger L2 cache can help speed up your system's performance. The FSB carries data between the CPU and RAM, and a faster front-side bus will deliver better overall performance.) The new hafnium-infused circuitry--which reduces electrical current leakage in transistors--conserves even more energy, giving you more time away from the wall outlet. With a substantial 3 MB of shared L2 cache, data and instructions can be kept close to the two processor cores, greatly increasing performance and allowing the entire system to work more efficiently. And, because the processor cores share the L2 cache, either can use the entire amount if the other happens to be idle. Hard Drive and Memory The 160 GB Serial-ATA (SATA) hard drive (5400 RPM) quickens the pace with a higher speed transfer of data--akin to FireWire and USB 2.0. The 2 GB of PC5300 DDR2 RAM (two SO-DIMMs of 1024 MB) have an industry-leading 667 MHz speed, and the RAM capacity can be increased to 4 GB. Wireless Connectivity The built-in 802.11n wireless networking provides up to five times the performance and twice the range of 802.11g, but it's also backward-compatible with 802.11a/b/g routers, enabling you to communicate with the a wide variety of Wi-Fi resources. It works seamlessly with the new AirPort Extreme with 802.11n. Use the built-in Bluetooth wireless technology to connect to your PDA or cell phone, synchronize addresses, or download pictures from your cell phone. You can also use a wireless headset for iChat audio chats and VoIP calls as well as quickly share files with a colleague. Display and Graphics Whether you're working on a Keynote presentation or watching a movie before you catch a flight, every document, video, and photo on your MacBook will look sharp on the glossy 13.3-inch widescreen display. With pixel-perfect 1280-by-800 resolution, it's great for viewing and working with media. Video is powered by the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100, which provides 144 MB of DDR2 SDRAM shared with main memory. It features Intel Clear Video Technology, which delivers outstanding video playback with sharper image quality, increased clarity, and enhanced visual quality of interlaced content on progressive displays. Video Conferencing with Built-in iSight Artfully placed in the display bezel is an iSight camera, which enables easy video conferencing as well as allows you to snap pictures of yourself and create video podcasts. Using the iChat AV application, video conferencing is integrated into your iChat buddy list, so initiating a video conference is a breeze. iChat also lets you hold audio chats with up to 10 people and provides high-quality audio compression and full-duplex sound so conversation can flow naturally. For video podcasting, you can record a short clip using the iSight camera, then use iWeb to create a video blog entry or post your GarageBand-recorded podcast. Customer Reviews Unbeleivable deal, Amazing computer Its super fast, no freezing or random error messages, excellent graphics. 100% happy with this purchase.
Amazing Computer I had some friends saying I should look at Apple laptops when my last non-Apple laptop died. I was not sure if it was something I would really want, but they let me play with theirs.
Though some things were unfamiliar to me (more than some) I found that I was able to get the basics down very quickly, maybe an hour or two. I have been very happy with this machine. It runs welll, I do not have any crashes and the software that comes with the computer right from the start is alot of fun - iPhoto is great.
I had a couple of questions, so I made an appointment for the Genius Bar and they were very helpful.
So far the Apple has been a good choice for me.
Awesome and easy! I love this computer. It does everything I need to do, and every day I learn something else about it! Without having to buy any other software, I can make audio productions, video and even green screen. It always finds wireless connections with ease (I wish I could say the same for my PC). You have to buy spreadsheet and word processing and stuff like that if you're used to them, but they do have options. It's really light weight and the only down side is that the keyboard is too simple. I'm not that savvy, but the key board is not the same as my old IMAC laptop. But this computer has not failed me in any way - oh and mine even makes DVDs from movies I get online!
Love my Apple! This Apple Mac Book is my second Apple laptop and fifth Macintosh. The new computer is small and lightweight and is easy to carry when I travel. I love two finger scrolling, the magnetic power source, and the tiny camera built into the cover. It's a great laptop. The only drawback I see is the problem I had with my four year old G4 iBook whose screen went dark last summer prompting me to purchase the new computer. I purchased a monitor and now use the old laptop as a desk model. Good idea to purchase the extended warranty. I have used it on three Apple computers so far and probably will be sorry I did not get it for the new laptop.
MacBook Extremely happy with the transition from PC to Mac. Mac has done a great job here.

ARMONK, NY —
IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced a program to
equip computer science majors at colleges and universities with the
technical skills to develop or adapt computer programs for people with
disabilities, the maturing population, and non-native language speakers, so
that they can more easily access, navigate and use the Web and electronic
office documents.
Just in time for the fall semester, IBM is posting a Web-based, lecture
available for viewing anytime (ibm.com/university/skills/accessibility)
that teaches programming techniques to make electronic documents and the
Web more accessible to all users. The lecture also discusses and
illustrates the importance of developing software and Web applications that
are accessible to all. Professors who lead computer science courses can
easily incorporate the material into their curriculum.
As part of the program, IBM is also launching a contest that challenges
students to propose and design open source software for people with
disabilities. To qualify, their entries must be based on a new
international standard, called the OpenDocument Format (ODF). Familiarity
with ODF will be increasingly important, as the format will be required by
50 percent of governments and 20 percent of commercial organizations by
2010, according to the Gartner. More information on the contest can be
found at
href="http://www.ibm.com/able/contest">ibm.com/able/contest/.
“While there are many courses on programming skills, few, if any, lectures
are devoted to encouraging students to consider the needs of computer users
with sight, hearing or mobility disabilities when they write software
code,” said Dr. Wayne Dick, Chair of the Computer Engineering and Computer
Science Department at the University of California State University at Long
Beach. “IBM’s considerable expertise in assistive technologies will help
computer sciences majors differentiate themselves in the job market, and
give the students the satisfaction of helping others and solving
challenges. The skills also make good business sense, given the size of
the disabled community.”
Between 750 million and 1 billion of the world’s 6 billion people have a
speech, vision, mobility, hearing or cognitive disability, according to the
World Health Organization. According to the U.S. Census Bureau,
one-quarter of the U.S. population will reach 55 by 2008, and about
two-thirds will experience a disability after age 65. Vendors that hire
computer science graduates recognize the growing spending power of people
with physical disabilities. Collectively, their income is estimated at $1
trillion, and they control up to $10 trillion in financial assets,
according to the U.S. Census Bureau and American Association of People With
Disabilities.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics has identified computer-based jobs as
one of the fastest growing occupations through 2012, particularly those
involving skills for jobs related to systems analysts, database
administrators, computer scientists — with growth rates ranging from 40 to
70 percent in the U.S. alone.
“The program announced today is an effort by IBM to foster innovation that
really matters,” said Frances West, Director, IBM Human Ability and
Accessibility Center. “We’re distilling our extensive experience and
know-how when it comes to accessibility, and bringing it to bear for the
generation of computer scientists-in-training, who can really make a
difference in their professional careers.”
“This contest brings together three critical ideas that have significant
importance in the computer industry today: open standards, open source, and
accessibility,” said Dr. Bob Sutor, IBM Vice President, Standards and Open
Source. “We hope that these efforts spark significant uptake in how we
make our information and applications available to as many people as
possible.”
IBM has been involved in matters of accessibility ever since it hired its
first disabled employee in 1914. It has developed many dozens of products,
such as screen magnifiers, narrators and stabilizers, that make computers
more accessible to all, including disabled users. It operates several
human ability and accessibility centers around the world, and has well over
100 researchers, computer scientists and experts that advance the state of
the accessibility art.
The program announced today complements the efforts of IBM’s University
Relations Academic Initiative, a program offering education-related tools
and technologies via the Web or in person. IBM works with schools that
support open computer standards and seek to use open source and IBM
technologies for teaching purposes. More than 1,900 institutions, 11,000
faculty members and 450,000 students take advantage of the training
programs offered through the Initiative.
Participating schools receive free access to IBM software, discounted
hardware, course materials, training and curriculum development. The value
of the free resources can range into millions of dollars. For more
information on the IBM Academic Initiative, please visit
ibm.com/university.
Last week, the New York City Mayor’s Office for People With Disabilities
bestowed the Title IV Telecommunications Award on IBM. New York City’s
mayor, Michael R. Bloomberg, praised IBM’s commitment to increasing
technological accessibility for people with disabilities. Examples include
an IBM service that assesses the accessibility of customers’ Web sites; and
for providing accessible products such as the Home Page Reader, and Lotus
Learning Management System.
