D-Wave Systems Inc., The Quantum Computing Company™ has appointed Silicon Valley enterprise software executive Jonathan Silverman as Director of Product Marketing.
In his new role, Mr. Silverman will be located in the Bay Area and will be responsible for all aspects of D-Wave’s Discrete Optimization product offering. D-Wave is developing an optimization-engine accelerator to leverage D-Wave’s proprietary quantum processing technology to solve complex, large-scale optimization problems in near real time - many times faster than the most powerful supercomputers in the world today.
Mr. Silverman has over 20 years of experience designing, developing and implementing enterprise software solutions. He has held senior managerial and technical positions in product management, product development and professional services organizations.
As Vice President of Product Strategy at Exemplary Software, he led the team that developed the product roadmap and designed solutions for inbound material replenishment management, supply chain collaboration and visibility, multi-tier outsourced manufacturing management and lean manufacturing. In his role as Vice President of Product Development for eB2X, Mr. Silverman defined the initial product vision and roadmap and managed development of advanced supply-chain planning and order promising products tailored to the needs of small and mid-size suppliers. As Director of Optimization at PeopleSoft, Mr. Silverman led all development teams responsible for the company’s ERP supply-chain planning products and tools. At Red Pepper Software, Mr. Silverman was the Director of Product Services and led the training and product consulting organizations and introduced modeling and optimization workshops, significantly streamlining customer implementations.
Prior to joining Red Pepper Software, Mr. Silverman worked as a senior consultant for IBM Global Services, designing and implementing optimization-based scheduling solutions for the steel industry and as a Product Manager at Consilium for advanced planning products for the semiconductor industry.
As a consultant, Mr. Silverman has worked with leading companies including Bausch and Lomb, Toyota, General Motors, RR Donnelley Publishing, Sara Lee, Samsung, National Steel, US Steel, Geneva Steel, AutoLiv, Tyco, Read-Rite, 3COM, Cisco, Sun Microsystems, Flextronics Semiconductor, Hewlett Packard, Micron, Coors, Texas Instruments and Anchor Glass Company. In this role, he has led requirements-gathering, solution development and implementation projects. He holds an M.S. in Operations Research from Stanford University.
